What is the origin of the pain?
Introduction
In oncology patients, locating the source of a given pain is important to control the symptom. This requires a rational search, the use of drugs or other therapies, but also talking to the patient, as the emotional component is a key compound.
Sometimes, the pain is so intense that it leads to functional impotence, for example in the case of the lower extremity, and then, due to the length of the lower extremity, different possible locations and referred pain, it sometimes takes some time to reach a diagnosis.
Case Report Summary
This is the case of a patient diagnosed with a sarcoma. She was admitted due to intense pain throughout the right lower limb, with inability to walk, referring pain from the inguinal region to the knee. Initially, the possibility of metastasis in the femur or tibia was considered, but no metastatic lesion was found on plain X-rays.
An abdominal CT scan was performed which showed a large lesion infiltrating the coxal bone like a “shirt button”.
