Inspector Holmders: Pain on my chest (solution)
A 79-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital with mild fever and cough. Two days before she had a fall from her bed landing on her hip. The first clinical diagnosis was a respiratory infection. The main symptom referred for the patient was pain on her left hemithorax. Can you suggest another possible scenario?
SOLUTION: Next week(Monday .7 march)
SOLUTION: Physical examination of the left thoracic area showed a sound related with the costal area suggesting a rib fracture. Probably after the fall the patient felt a strong pain during the inspiration and this situation favoured the pulmonary infection.
